Apple has confirmed the launch of iPhone 3G in collaboration with Airtel and Vodaphone in India. Both of them are asking customers to pre-register (click here to pre-register for Airtel and Vodaphone), but also they have put up the following disclaimer on their sites:
Airtel: Some features and services are not available in many areas.
Vodaphone: Currently compatible only with 2G networks. Only select features and services are currently available in India.
There are some Apple Services that are not available in India currently, like iTunes Store. But I’m not sure if this refers to their infrastructural limitations or if they are going to turn off some of the features.
I haven’t registered for the iPhone yet, as I’m waiting for its launch in US (i.e. 11 July) and some more detail reviews to flow in.
